New Texas Law Allows Sealing of Misdemeanor Convictions

One of the most radical changes made by Texas in 2017 was the ability to seal your misdemeanor criminal record, even if you have a conviction. In the past, only if you had deferred adjudication were you allowed to file a non-disclosure petition which would result in keeping the public from seeing your mistake.

Now, most misdemeanor convictions with probation or even jail time may be sealed – including DWIs! There are some exceptions, such as sexual or family violence offenses.
